Key Highlights:

  • Shallow Uranium Discovery: Drill hole OV047 reveals a 6-meter interval with anomalous uranium readings at just 27 meters depth.
  • Potential New Uranium Model: Evidence suggests the presence of calcrete-hosted uranium deposits, similar to those mined in Namibia.
  • Accelerated Drilling Program: Follow-up drilling to commence on March 10, 2025, to further explore uranium potential.
  • Rapid Analysis Underway: Samples from OV047 are prioritized for mineralogical assessment and assay results.
  • Palaeovalley Expansion Confirmed: Drilling confirms the southern extension of a key palaeovalley, reinforcing Overland’s uranium potential.

AR3 Uncovers Shallow Uranium: A Major Boost for the Overland Project

Australian Rare Earths Limited (ASX: AR3) has announced a major breakthrough at its Overland Uranium Project, with drilling revealing a shallow uranium occurrence that could redefine the project’s potential.

Drill hole OV047 intersected a 6-meter interval of carbonate-cemented sediments at just 27 meters depth, showing strong uranium readings from both gamma and pXRF analyses. This discovery suggests the possibility of a calcrete-hosted uranium deposit, a style of mineralization similar to those found in Namibia and Western Australia.

The significance of this find cannot be overstated. Unlike deeper, harder-to-extract uranium deposits, shallow calcrete-hosted mineralization can be more economically viable and easier to process, making Overland an increasingly attractive exploration target.

Potential for a New Uranium Model at Overland

This latest discovery expands AR3’s uranium potential beyond its initial focus on palaeochannel-hosted deposits. The presence of near-surface, calcrete-hosted uranium suggests a multi-layered exploration opportunity, increasing the likelihood of commercial success.

“The intersection of a shallow uranium occurrence in OV047 is a significant step forward in our exploration program at Overland. The identification of shallow mineralisation, coupled with the confirmation of the palaeovalley’s southern extension, underscores the potential of this project,” said Travis Beinke, AR3’s Managing Director and CEO.

Follow-Up Drilling Program to Accelerate Exploration

With the potential for a significant new uranium system, AR3 is fast-tracking additional drilling, set to begin on March 10, 2025. This accelerated program aims to:

  • Further define the extent of the shallow uranium mineralization.
  • Assess deeper palaeochannel-hosted ISR deposits within the expanded palaeovalley.
  • Prioritize high-potential drill targets across EL7001 and EL6678.

Immediate Assay and Mineralogical Testing Underway

To confirm the economic potential of this find, samples from OV047 are being prioritized for chemical assay and mineralogical analysis. These results will provide a clearer picture of uranium grade, recoverability, and the overall commercial viability of this discovery.

Why This Discovery Matters for AR3 and the Uranium Market

Growing Demand for Uranium

The discovery comes at a pivotal time for the uranium sector, with global demand rising due to:

• Nuclear energy’s role in the clean energy transition.

• Increased investment in uranium projects by governments and private investors.

• Tightening supply chains, pushing uranium prices higher.

AR3’s Strategic Advantage

Overland’s geological similarities to major uranium mines in Namibia (Langer Heinrich) and Western Australia (Yeelirrie, Wiluna) position AR3 as a strong emerging player in the uranium space. The project’s shallow depth and multi-model potential could provide an economic advantage over deeper, more capital-intensive uranium projects.

Investor Outlook

With follow-up drilling imminent and assay results pending, AR3’s recent uranium find at Overland adds substantial value to its exploration portfolio. Investors will be watching closely for further drilling updates and resource estimations as the project progresses.

What’s Next for AR3?

The Overland exploration campaign will continue until April 2025, focusing on:

  • Expanding the shallow uranium system.
  • Testing deeper ISR-amenable palaeochannel uranium deposits.
  • Conducting further geochemical and mineralogical assessments to confirm the deposit’s viability.

As AR3 pushes forward with its exploration strategy, this discovery at Overland could be a turning point for the company and its position in the uranium market.
